Tex has had a nasty throaty, mucuosy sounding cough for about 2.5 weeks now. I have it too. Should I bring him to the doctor? I always feel like they are just going to tell me to give him cough syrup (which does nothing.) Would you take your kid to the dr for a cough?

16 weeks 7 days with baby numero tres.

I have my 17 week appointment on Thursday and I have to have my second cervical measurement ultrasound so that they can make sure that I am not thinning/dilating. My obgyn told me that I can't get my gender u/s until my 20 week measurement u/s but I am hoping that the u/s tech will just show us. She is pretty cool (if we get the regular tech) and I am hoping we can sway our way into getting her to show us. Lou just outgrew the cute little girl section at Target and I am really hoping to have another little girl so that I can dress her in the cute clothes. I personally thin Lou is more emotionally draining and Tex is physically draining.

The kids have been with me for an hour, it is Spring Break, and I am already wondering how I am going to handle them all summer long. We signed them up for Zoo Camp for a week in June, we will have a pool pass, etc. But I am supposed to be basically sitting on my rump and not moving until baby is born (which just isn't possible with two kids.) We can't afford to sign them up for a ton of camps. I know that we made it through last summer okay but I was able to run around with them then. Any suggestions?

Product reviews [

I got a Sephora gift card from my mom and stepdad for Christmas because that is what I have asked for from them for the past 10 years. I have never found any products that I was completely in love with but shopping at Sephora. I have however been taking advantage of their product samples for the past few years as well as the free gifts that I get with their frequent buyer perk points. Don't think that I bought this stuff all in the past month, these are products that I have accumulated in the past year or so that I continue to use.

Clarisonic Mia (mine is in lavender)
At first I wasn't sure if I liked my Clarisonic because it didn't see to do anything for my breakouts. All of my friends that have one rant and rave about how great theirs are and how glowing it makes their skin. I then realized that I was pregnant and the only thing that would help my complexion was my hormones chilling out. Now that I am almost out of my first trimester my skin is starting to cut me a break and I am LOVING my Clarisonic. I use mine on my face only so the Mia is perfect in size. I didn't like the Clarisonic face soap that came with it so I put my Aveda Enbrightenment face wash on it and I love it. It seems to clean out my pores really well and my black head problem that I had on my nose is pretty much gone. I still break out but this really helps keep my breakouuts minimal and clear them up fast.

Aveda Lavender Oil
One of my best friends is an Aveda Esthetician. I told her that I wanted a natural product taht would help with my breakouts instead of the typical Benzoyl peroxide and Salycilic Acid products that seems to be in EVERYTHING. Lavender oil works as a natural antiseptic so it helps dry out brakouts and clear out pores. I rub about 2 drops of this between my clean fingers and rub it all over my face after I wash it morning and night. You don't have to use the Aveda brand, you can get this oil at any natural vitamin place or Whole Foods. If you have super dry skin you may want to mix it with your daily moisturizer.

Fresh Twilight
This is my favorite in the summer when I have a bit of color in my face. I put it on my cheek bones for a little highlight. But I have been using it lately for my "fake pregnancy glow."

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment
I have been trying to grow my hair out because I haven't had long hair since 9th grade but my hair is so course, dry, and unruly that it is hard to enjoy it. I recently paid $25 at an Aveda salon for their Botanical Hair Therapy and it made my hair smell great and was nice for a few days but it didn't last as long as they claimed it would (4 weeks.) I purchased this Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment, I purchased the less expensive size that was $19.99 to see if I liked it. You rub 1 and a 1/2 teaspoons of this wax substance in your hands and it immediately melts into an oil. You saturate your hair from ends to scalp and leave it in for anywhere from 20 minutes to overnight. I left it in my hair for about an hour and a half in fear that if I slept with it in it would get on my face and cause me to break out. It makes me hair so soft and nice. My crazy wavy hair looks pretty mermaidy afterwards and if I flat iron it my hair is like silk. I use this once a week.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in "Tattle Tale"
I have been lacking that "glow" this pregnancy so between Fresh "twilight" and this product I can fake it. I like to put this on my eyelids as well as on the inner corners of my eyeys and around the lower lid. It keeps me looking awake even when I am exhausted.

Benefit "They're Real" mascara
I have tried less expensive mascara's like Cover Girl "Lash Blast" as well as more expensive mascara like Dior "Black Out" mascara. I can't stand clumpy mascara's that make my eyelashes look like spider legs and both of the aforementioned products make my lashes look ridiculously clumpy. I recently started using Benefit's "They're Real" mascara and I love it! It looks pretty natural and it doesn't snudge with my drippy allergy eyes (and hormonal pregnanncy tear ups.) I definitely am not talented enough to use the round end of the wand though.

Aveda Enbrightenment Skin Care
This wasn't purchased from Sephora, I buy this from a local Aveda spa/salon. I have always had skin that is prone to hormonal and stress breakouts. This product has willow bark in it that lightens the dark pigment colors in my skin caused from breakouts or sun damage. I use the Face wash, toner, and serum and love them all!

Maybelline "Baby Lips" in "Cherry Me"
I use this as a tinted lip balm and I like this one a lot more than the expensive tinted lip balms at Sephora. On the commercial they claim that it restores your lips to their softest "baby like" state. Maybe this would be true if I weren't a constant lip chewer. I love the tint and the cherry smell.

Yves Saint Laurent, Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in "Exquisite Plum"
Now this lipstick does what "Baby Lips" claims to do. It is a very light sheer lipstick with SPF 15 in it. It smells wonderful and makes my lips silky smooth. I have only tried the "Exquisite Plum" color and I absolutely LOVE it.

Tarte "Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15"
I have a pretty oily t-zone and the amazonian clay in this foundation really seems to keep my oiliness under control for its claimed "12 hours." It also covers flaws without looking like you are wearing makeup. I hate that thick makeup look/feel. This foundation is really light even though it seems to sit on top of my skin and not soak into my pores.

A girl I knew in high school just posted this on Facebook...

I said, "He was born in Hawaii, how is he not American?" I am not into politics but some people are just trashy. This infuriated me so much that my head feels like it is floating 2 feet above my body and is pulsating.

To those of you that live in or around NYC or Chicago can you please help! We are looking for family friendly neighborhoods. Not too expensive obviously, as inexpensive as we can get in a safe neighborhood. I am so scared to move back to NYC with kids. The kids that I used to see in public schools there remind me of the movie KIDS.

It is the first day of summer vacation and Tex dcided to wake up at 5:30 am. If the kid would eat dinner he would sleep in but he has never really liked eating dinner, he is the pickiest eater ever. Today we are going to the Children's Museum, tomorrow is Lou's 5th birthday party. FIVE! Stop growing already! She is having dinosaur party, she is really into outer space and dinosaurs, I think she will be a scientist. We went to the library the other day and she picked out a book on Pluto and how it used to be a planet. She sits there and listens to me read it to her very consumed by every word. She is learning how to read, I know her teacher taught her some tricks at school but she seems to be doing really well on her own. Okay, it is too early to be awake.

I just bought all of the party supplies for Tex's upcoming 2nd birthday. He is going to have a Yo Gabba Gabba party as it is his crack. 2 years seems a bit right for him, I remember when Lou turned 2 it felt like she was growing up way too fast but I think about everything that happened with Tex in the beginning with the hospital and everything, it seems like forever ago. I feel like being pregnant with him happened 5 years ago, I can't really remember much of it. Now on the other hand, Lou is turning 5 in June and I simply can not believe it. STOP GROWING!

All of my friends are having babies and it is definitely making me think back on when I first had Lou, how mellow everything was. I miss that time alot, not that I don't adore having 2 kids, it was just so different. I know that I want another baby but not until Tex is in atleast pre-k. Right now he doesn't get all of the attention he deserves and he acts out to get it. I think that if we had another child right now it would 100% ruin him. Lou really wants a baby sister though.

Sometimes I wish that I didn't work and I could just be a full on stay at home mom....Not that we ever stay at home, we are always on the go. But I was able to give Lou so much attention when she was a baby and with the stress of my job I feel like I am mentally exhausted all of the time and my patience is thin. I have plans for my company in the next year, if everything works out as planned I am hoping to lighten my workload.

Greg turned 30 on Wednesday, he is all growsd up! We are having his friends over for a bbq tomorrow. Ihave to clean like a mad woman tonight. Right now I am going to start by making an even bigger mess and going through stuff to give to GoodWill.

I have so much more to write about but as I type this Tex is playing King of the Mountain on the top of the couch.

While mixing the dye I realized that I couldn't get the color any lighter without using an entire bottle of conditioner.

Have any of you ever had to have your crazy baby get dental work done? Tex just chipped his front tooth a little and everytime he tries to drink something he screams and cries. The chip doesn't look all that bad and the tooth isn't loose but his gums around his tooth are bloody and I am guessing that he chipped it enough for the nerve to be exposed because he has a blood curdling scream. I made a dentist appt for him for tommorrow. How do they plan on opening his mouth to do work? He won't even let me look at his tooth without freaking out. I am so scared for him, poor baby.
